Final cut-double page spread

I am really pleased with the outcome of my double page spread. I have stuck to a lot of my original ideas, as well as taking advice from my target audience to create an attractive and proffesional double page spread.

I am pleased with the outcome of my contents page however i do not think it is as high a standard as my other pages. I bleieve that i could of perhaps made better use of the space at the bottom, by making the text smaller and including more photos. however i am happy with the standard of photos already present on this page.

I am very pleased with my final product. I took into consideration what my target audience thought i could improve on, and i believe i have created a neat and proffesional looking front cover.

week 7

This week i added the finishing touches to my magazine, reviewing all the codes and conventions of dance/DJ magazines,looking at my style models and going over target audience feedback to insure i had included all that i wanted to include. I went add a small box of text on my double page spread with a list of my DJ's top song tracks which, when refering back to my questionnaires, is what one of my target audience had said they like to see in music magazines.

Rough cuts

We gave out print outs of our rough cuts to our target audiences to allow them to give feedback on what they liked/disliked about the magazine so far so we could make improvements for our final drafts.

Front cover: "Really like the image-the positioning of the model and use of headphones"

"Would definitley add more stories and increase font size- but love the font style"  

"Like the name of the DJ it is interesting so grabs my attention straight away"

"I would like to see more colour in the fonts- use more of the red/pink colour; also i would add some sort of logo"

From this information, I know now to add more stories to the front of my magazine to make it look as if it has a lot of content. I will also use more colour on the front cover as well as increasing the font size so that it is easily readable. Finally, i will create a logo to accompany my mast head so that it looks more creative and proffesional.

Contents page:"Get rid of the green line or change it to another colour as it doesn't match the colour  scheme- maybe add writing to it as it doesnt seem to have a purpose."

From the feedback from this page it was clear i had quite alot to change. This is very constructive for me as it allows me to improve on what i have created to produce a better quality final cut. I will upload another photo to this page like suggested to accompany the text at the bottom of the page. I will take one in a club scene so that it matches what the text is saying. I will also rearrange the text so that it is closer together, this will give me more space to add a new photo also.
                     

Double page spread:"really enjoyed reading the article- like how it is about a female DJ aswell as you dont often see female artists in this genre of magazine."

I have decided to change the image to another one i had taken when taking this particular one-It will be a close-up like suggested so hopefully be more engaging for the reader. I will also creat space at the top of the double page spread for the page number.

                                

                                 

week 6

After adding the new photos to my contents page, i began to play around with the layout and colours, focusing on my style model and trying to make it look more eye catching. i created texts to accompany the photgraphs, and gave them page numbers. i also added a footer to the top of  the magazine for the masthead and 'contents' to go as well as a small version of the logo i had previously created for the front cover. I created the logo just using rectangular boxes and arranging the to look like a graphic equalizer on a music system. I did this as i wanted to make my masthead more eye catching and memorable. As well as creating a tag line under my masthead 'clubbers guide to dance music' as it features a lot in my style models.
